Live Zoom classes are for ages 4-18 only.

My lessons fit into 3 categories: Kids Piano, Youth Favorites, and Masterworks.

Kids Piano lessons are best for ages 4-12, but I've had both younger and older students use it!

Youth Favorites lessons are best for 3rd grade and up, especially after doing at least a few Kids Piano lessons.

My Masterworks lessons are best for ages 13-Adult, but graduates of Kids Piano use it regularly, or students coming from other programs younger than age 13 with some prior experience.

First, let them know you want them to just try it together. Make it a side-by-side activity!

Then, create some curiosity by downloading a piano app or labeling your keys.

Then, print some sheet music and try a pre-recorded lesson together. Start at the beginning with the easiest possible song (Hot Cross Buns, OUCH!) to build confidence and create a FUN and positive culture of high-fives and rounds of applause!

When it's time to join Zoom, either watch from the live stream on Facebook, or join us live, but let them know they can join with the camera off for as long as they like. When they see other kids having fun, they usually warm up pretty fast and want to join, too!

It's a music class, so use whatever has the biggest screen and loudest speakers! Big sounds encouraged!

First of all, attention span increases with time and skill. For younger kids, only expect 5-10 minutes of focus at first, and expect to add about 5 minutes every 1-2 weeks.

Second, this isn't a "sit and watch" sort of class... These are VERY interactive, literally "hands-on" lessons  and classes where your student will be playing every few SECONDS!

Third, it's important to find the right level of challenge. Part of the goal of the first day is to try the easiest lesson, then keep going until it takes a little bit of WORK to be successful! That's right: WORK! Because our sense of PRIDE is proportional to our sense of EFFORT. If it didn't take any work, we don't feel proud! Once you find the level of effort that produces real pride, you've found the right level of challenge!

My program boils down to 3 key ingredients:

1. The right kind of sheet music for the student's age and interests
2. Pre-recorded lessons for some self-disciplined independent learning, and
3. Live classes for FUN, motivation, and personal guidance!

Preschool and Kindergarteners are plenty happy with Hot Cross Buns, OUCH! and similar songs.

Elementary students still need to start with the basics, but can usually QUICKLY get to songs from their favorite movies and video games like Frozen, Moana, Star Wars, Minecraft, and Super Mario!

Middle and High school students often WANT a more sophisticated challenge, but still benefit from reading sheet music that helps them play songs at a level of challenge they enjoy. With just a small amount of easy start-up songs, they'll be able to dive into the popular modern music for younger students, or jump right into classical masterworks like Fur Elise and Moonlight Sonata!

No! Live Zoom classes are a sort of social/educational bonus. Many students learn very well forever from just my sheet music and pre-recorded lessons. (That's the power of a well-structured and thoroughly tested course!)

To keep things simple, I use the same link for all my classes, but because I teach over 20 other classes each week, I don't like to send it out early so students don't accidentally interrupt my other classes.

I can't say exactly because I tweak and test different packages and special bonuses often... but I can say they are getting better and cooler all the time!
